The HS0038 is a compact infrared (IR) receiver module designed for remote-control systems. It integrates a PIN photodiode and a preamplifier on a lead frame, enclosed in an epoxy package that serves as an IR filter providing noise shielding and rejection of ambient light.
It demodulates incoming 38 kHz IR signals and outputs a digital signal (active-low, TTL/CMOS-compatible), which can be read directly by a microcontroller (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi) or other logic. Typical use cases include TVs, set-top boxes, audio/video equipment, home appliances, and DIY microcontroller projects.
Operating specifications include a supply voltage range of ~2.5 V to 5.5 V, low power consumption, and good immunity to ambient light and electrical interference.
