A compact, open-source wireless button designed for ESPHome and Home Assistant.
The SiloCityLabs Single Button for ESPHome is a battery-powered ESP32-C6 remote designed to make physical control of your smart home simple. Press the button to trigger a Home Assistant automation, scene, script, notification, or nearly anything else you can automate.
It ships with ESPHome firmware pre-installed and is designed around local control, open-source configuration, and user customization.
Built for ESPHome
The Single Button runs ESPHome natively.
When you press the button, the ESP32-C6 wakes from deep sleep, reports the button press, provides brief RGB status feedback, checks the battery voltage, and remains awake briefly before returning to deep sleep.
Use it for things like:
- Lights and scenes
- Chore Minder
- Bedtime routines
- Garage door automations
- Notifications
- Assistance or call buttons
- Doorbell automations
- "Everything off" automations
- Home Assistant scripts
- Anything else that can use a button press as a trigger
- There is no proprietary cloud service or subscription required.
Designed for Battery Operation
The Single Button was designed specifically as a battery-powered ESPHome device rather than simply placing a button next to a development board.
Hardware features include:
- Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-C6
- 800 mAh rechargeable battery
- Deep-sleep wake from the physical button
- WS2812B RGB status LED with hardware power gating
- Switched battery-voltage monitoring
- USB-C charging and programming
- Physical power switch
- Compact 3D-printed enclosure
While idle, the ESP32-C6 spends most of its time in deep sleep. The RGB LED and battery measurement circuitry can be powered down when they are not needed, reducing standby power consumption.
The 800 mAh battery is designed to provide months of operation between charges under typical light use. Actual battery life depends on button frequency, Wi-Fi signal strength, connection time, firmware configuration, battery condition, and other factors.
Open Source and Customizable
The firmware and ESPHome configuration are open source.

You can use the supplied configuration as-is or customize the device for your own application.
Change the LED behavior, modify sleep timing, add functionality, or adapt the configuration to your own Home Assistant setup.
Home Assistant Integration
The button press is exposed to Home Assistant through ESPHome as a binary sensor, allowing it to be used directly as an automation trigger.
Create an automation, select the Single Button as your trigger, and decide what you want the press to do.
